SAI Sports Scholarship

To recognize
the achievements of young sportspersons and their outstanding
performance at the national, state and inter university levels, Sports
Authority of India through its Netaji Subhas National Institute of
Sports, Patiala is awarding sports scholarships, on behalf of the
Government of India Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to the
students who are proficient in sports and studying in recognized schools
/ colleges / universities who have secured first/second or third
position in individual events or winner/runners up position in team
events in the recognized international, national or state level
competitions including state school competitions conducted between
the-period 1st January to 31 December, 2006 subject to fulfilling other
conditions. Details of the scholarships to be awarded during the year
2007-08, are:



  • Scholarship worth Rs. 10200/- per annum (12
    months @ 850/- per month) each to eligible regular students of
    recognized colleges / universities (studying above 10+2 classes),
    securing first / second or third position in individual events or winner
    / runners-up position in team events, in recognized International
    /National /AIU Competitions /National School Games.

  • National level scholarships worth Rs. 8400/- per
    annum (12 Months @ Rs. 100/- per month) each to eligible regular
    students of recognized schools/ colleges (studying upto 10+2 classes),
    securing first / second or third position in individual events or winner
    / runners-up position in team events in recognized International
    Competitions; Senior/ Junior
    National Championships; National School
    Games; National Sports Festival for Women, All India Rural Sports
    Tournaments, North East Sports Festival and Sub-Junior/ Junior Nehru
    Hockey Tournaments/ Subroto Mukerjee Cup Football Tournament.

  • State level scholarship worth Rs. 6600/- per
    annum (12 Months) @ Rs. 550/- per month each, to eligible regular
    students of school / college (studying upto 10+2 classes) securing first
    / second or third position in individual events or winner / runners-up
    position in team events, in recognized State level competitions
    organized by the respective state sports associations / state education
    departments.


Every state has a quota of 150 and every union
territory of 100 scholarships under state level fresh category. In
addition to the above, special scholarships to women will also be
awarded as given below:



  • 50 scholarships, worth Rs. 18,000/- per
    annual each, to unemployed women above 19 years of age securing first /
    second or third position in individual events only in the senior
    national championships organized by the concerned recognized national
    federations.

  • 10 scholarships of Rs. 10,000/- - per annum each
    to women having Master's degree in Physical education and doing
    M.Phil/Ph D. in Physical Education, in any recognized Physical Education
    colleges, in India.

  • 20 scholarships of Rs. 7,500/- each to women
    having Master's Degree In Physical Education and doing Diploma in Sports
    Coaching, at any one of the academic centres of the SAL


Those studying in Colleges / Universities (above 10+2
classes) and having I sports achievements in state level or
inter-college competitions are not eligible for any of the above
scholarships. Those securing position in the National level competitions
conducted by KVS, NVS, CBSE, All India Public Schools Sports Board are
also not eligible under any of the above categories of scholarships.
